Although State Wars Hockey is currently “out of season” the guys are currently brushing off the dust and keeping things rolling in the New York area. The ball is certainly rolling right now since Greg Thompson and Timmy McManus have created the Long Island Mission Labeda Challenge.
During the fall and winter seasons there will be 4 qualifies held and 4 different rinks in the NY area. Not only will the division winners receive prizes from Mission and Labeda, the winning team of each tournament will qualify for the Finals and compete for not only the bragging rights of first place but a chance to win $1,000 in prize money.
Some rules to help keep teams from having players jumping all over are: Teams must play a minimum of 2 qualifies to play in the finals, the roster must be 50% the same in each qualifier and at the final and each player must play at least one qualifier to play in the finals.
There are four different divisions as well. The divisions are 4 on 4 AAA, 4 on 4 AA, 5 on 5 and 4 on 4 30over. You must be a birth year of 1993 or prior to play or 1980 or prior to play in the 30 over division.
Teams are welcome from all over!
