Now in its 5th year the Detroit Mission Stars program is ready to compete at the next level of competition. After giving some platinum teams a run for their money this weekend at the most completive Narch Qualifier in the country, the program wants to get to the next level.
Teams competing at this year regional where as follows:
8u. this team coached by DMS director Dave Zarem, was chosen from the top plays in the area without going out and recruiting top ice hockey players. All new to the sport Zarem feels that they will be ready to compete at the Narch finals.
12u. this team is coached by Zarem as well. New to the sport of roller hockey this team does play ice locally. After struggling during a 14 game winter schedule they have Won the Tour Cup Regional and this past weekend at the Narch qualifier beating a very good Tour Bordercat team in the finals.
14u. Team is coached by DMS pro player Steve Kolis. Although in its second year the team took a new look this year. Didn’t fair to well playing some high level teams Coach Kolis is determined to be prepared for the finals in FLA.
16u. Veteran coach John Murray also a DMS pro player ran into a tough schedule this past weekend and like Kolis is determined to be a top team at the Silver level. Coach Murray was quoted at saying anything less that bringing home a cup is unacceptable after knocking at the door in Toronto 2 years ago.
18u. Coach by Zarem as well, shook up the roller world beating two platinum teams this past weekend in the Tour Excitement Green and Mississauga White in the round robin. This team has a core of players that took Bantam Silver in Toronto and is ready to compete at the next level.
Pro. Although the weekend didn’t fair to well, the team did get a boost after knocking off the #1 seed in the semis and falling to the Tour Bordercats in the finals.
Other teams going to the Narch Finals are as follows:
6u Cub. Coach by Zarem as well is just too cute for words. After winning this division in Toronto, the organization was determined to bring one back to the finals. Although still novice as they have all new players, they are working hard every week to improve their skills and plan to be ready.
Women’s. Player coach Nicolette Franck is excited to get this group to the finals and make some noise.
Girl’s. Team is also coached by Nicolette Franck. Newly developed team and will also be ready to compete at the finals.
Men’s 35+. After winning this division for 5 straight years the organization didn’t go to the finals last year while trying to establish themselves in a new market
