We are here in the office on a cloudy Friday afternoon in what should be Sunny Southern California where Jonas Keszei should be getting a CT aka Cali Tan. When a topic arose: What is more important? A Lord Stanley Cup victory OR an Olympic Gold medal?
For 18 years and counting Canada has been left Cup less (not an athletic supporter) however this past year Team Canada prevailed and brought home Olympic Gold for their country.
Vancouver’s starting Goalie/ Team Canada’s starting Goalie, Roberto Luongo had a once in a lifetime opportunity to take home Olympic Gold and a Stanley Cup Championship in the same calendar year and the same rink/building (Rogers Arena). But as well all know, this did not happen. Vancouver fell victim to the Boston Bruins in 7 games.
The question is how long will Canada be deprived of a Stanley Cup victory? Will we hit 19 years next season or 20 years in 2? What is more important to you? Hoisting the Cup and having your named etched in the most recognizable/ oldest trophy in sports and amongst the great names already present or representing your country and taking home Olympic Gold.
Few of us will ever have this opportunity so for now we will take NARCh, TORHS and State Wars bling..
You tell us…
