Bethel University defeated Nevada-Las Vegas 4-3 to capture the 2012 National Collegiate Roller Hockey championship at the Olympic Oval Saturday night in Kearns, Utah.
It is believed to be only the second national team championship for Bethel. The Bethel soccer team won the NAIA title in 2008.
The Wildcats had to overcome some early season setbacks, losses to West Chester and University of California-Santa Barbara, before getting on a roll and securing the third seed in pool play. Bethel took down Ohio State, defending national champion Long Beach State, Eastern Michigan before dispatching the Runnin’ Rebels to win the crown in program’s second season.
